Adelle Lackey, resident of San Angelo passed away on February 1, 2024. Born in San Angelo on January 27th, 1943, she was the third daughter of Leora K Miller and George Washington Faulks.
Known lovingly as “Nani” by her family, she was the glue that held them all together. She married the love of her life B.H. Lackey on December 15th, 1969. They met at Boots Saddle Club where it was love at first sight. They enjoyed 54 joyous years together.
Adelle graduated from Flowing Wells High School in Tucson, AZ. She was a loyal employee of GTE/Verizon for 39 years and moved with the company to Ft. Wayne, IN and then Tampa, FL. Upon retirement Bud and Adelle chose to return home to San Angelo.
She was a lover of nature, especially flowers. She took pride in working on her lawn. A natural artist, she was a talented painter and enjoyed drawing. Her favorite painter, Bob Ross, was a frequent source of entertainment and education in her home. Most of all Nani was full of love for her family and was very proud of everyone. She was always a compassionate and empathetic listener while being a steady, strong rock one could count on. Nani was the best example of hard work and dedication and instilled that virtue in her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jim Don Faulks, Gary Faulks, sisters Leatrice Newman, Charlie Thigpen, and Joy Faulks.
Adelle is survived by her husband B.H Lackey. Her children; son, Robert Lackey (Tiffany) and daughter, Lori Lackey Baker. Grandchildren Jessica Steffy (Richard), Steven Warden, Heather Ortiz (Justin), Randy Baker Jr., Ashley Briseño (Eric). As well as many great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Harper Funeral Home at 11 am on Monday, February 5, 2024. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
