Mary H. Rodriguez (Maria) of San Angelo, TX passed away on January 29, 2024, at the age of 82 years old surrounded by her family. Maria was born January 1, 1942, in Wilson, TX to her parents Felix and Anita Hernandez. Maria had five brothers and five sisters. She married Margarito Rodriguez on March 16, 1963, and birthed eight children. Maria was a “Jill” of all trades and wore many hats of employment. She worked in health care, housekeeping and farming and ranching. She also volunteered at Rio Vista head start as a “grandma” Maria was also involved in church and served as a Guadalupana at St. Joseph Church in Loraine, TX for many years. Maria loved spending time at bingo and doing crafting and sewing. She was very creative; she would not miss an opportunity to get dolled up and go dancing. Maria spent her Sunday’s cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and watching Walker Texas Ranger. Maria was loving and caring especially to her dogs, and she had a great sense of humor.
Maria is survived by her sons Martin Rodriguez, Victor Diaz and wife Guadalupe Rodriguez, Ralph Rodriguez, and John “Cheecho” Rodriguez and her only daughter Mary Lou Flores and husband Joseph Chavez.
Maria had twenty-six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rosanna Trujillo and husband Jerry Trujillo, Zeleah Rodriguez, Anthony Rodriguez and wife Sabrina Castro, and Jose Flores Jr. for partaking in her end-of-life care for the last year. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Vicki Lowry with Concho Hearts Hospice and Selena Miller with Gentiva Hospice for their care. Maria has many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren with a special thanks to Isiah Cruz, Josiah Cruz and Gerardo Trujillo Jr. for feeding, loving and supplying her with endless hugs.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Margarito Rodriguez, her son Margarito Rodriguez Jr., her parents, her one sister and three brothers. Maria is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
The Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Harper Funeral Home Chapel.
