Nellie Joyce Beene, a beloved resident of San Angelo, TX, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, at the age of 84. She was born on September 17, 1939, in the small town of Granada, TX, to the late Dorothy and Charlie Weidner.
Nellie was a woman who cherished the simple joys in life. She found immense happiness in watching classic westerns, engaging in meaningful conversations with friends and family, and taking pleasure in the company of her cherished grandkids. Her love for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches paired with a refreshing diet coke was one of her guilty pleasures, and a source of many smiles throughout her life. Nellie had a passion for traveling and considered every new journey an opportunity for adventure, always appreciating the beauty and wonder this world had to offer.
Nellie found a true partner in her loving husband, Elvin Olan Beene, who she married on June 26, 1965. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Sadly, Nellie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Elvin, as well as their son, J.T. Beene, and her brother, Wille Weidner.
Left to honor her memory is her devoted son, James Beene, daughter-in-law, Tonya Beene, and daughter, Pauline DuPree, brother, Lifford Weidner, sister, Pauline Burger, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in Nellie's heart.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:00am at Grape Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to be made in Nellie's honor to organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association, the Dementia Society, or Meals for the Elderly.
