Charlie Hinojos, 86, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on September 19, 2023. Charlie was born on September 26, 1936, in San Angelo, TX. He was the 6th of 9 children born to Francisco and Jesusita Hinojos. On April 30,1960 Charlie married Elia Cervantes in Olfen, Texas, and together they raised 3 daughters. Charlie started working at various jobs at the age of 14. In 1972 he started and managed his own business AAA Sheet Metal Heating & Air Conditioning until his retirement in 2013.
Charlie was a devout Catholic with a very strong faith, who enjoyed serving the church in various ways. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, especially while his daughters attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. For over 20 years, he enjoyed participating at the Sacred Heart Fall festival with the kitchen crew carving turkeys. Later in life, he became a member of St. Margaret’s church, where he was active in various activities.
Charlie is survived by his three daughters: Rosemary Hinojos (Steve Briley), Magda Ramirez (Joe) from Austin and Yolanda Franco of San Angelo, 4 grandchildren Gabriela Ramirez of Austin, Matthew Franco, Annamarie Franco, and Michael Franco of San Angelo, brother Pete Hinojos of San Angelo, sister Emma Hernandez of Lubbock, Sister-in-law Rose Flores of Fort Worth, Brother-in-law Cayetano Tarin of San Angelo, and many nieces and nephews.
The Rosary will be 6:00 PM, Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Harper Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 22, 2023, at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church with Father Josh Gray as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
