Alta Faye Hollis passed away peacefully on September 7, 2023, at the age of 85. She was born in Sweetwater, Texas on October 26, 1937 to parents Claude and Edna Mae (Armstrong) Carpenter. She spent her childhood in Nolan County, Texas, later moving to Big Spring, Texas where she attended Howard College and San Angelo College.
Faye met the love of her life, Eston Hollis who lived down the street from her in Big Spring, Texas. They were married 53 years. Family and Church life were the center of her life. She loved to bake and shared this love with friends and neighbors. She shared the love of Christ by teaching children’s Sundy School. She found humor in life, being known for her infectious laughter. After raising two children, Faye and Eston spent many years traveling and enjoying riverboat cruises.
Residing the past three and one-half years at The Springs Memory Care in San Angelo, Texas, Faye received exceptional care. She participated in daily activities, anticipated Elvis visits and the occasional mischief with her close friends, always knowing that the staff loved her.
She is survived by one daughter, Tanya Denise Pfluger and husband William Reid Pfluger of San Angelo, Texas. In addition, she leaves behind grandchildren, Zachary Carl Pfluger of San Angelo, Texas, Allyson Mae Pfluger of San Antonio, Texas and Patricia Eloise Pfluger of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by a sister, Vernelle Martin of Plainview, Texas, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Faye is predeceased by her husband, Thomas Eston Hollis (12-7-2018), and son, Randell Eston Hollis (9-23-2012) and her parents.
A graveside service will be held on at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring, Texas on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.
