Mr. Martin Pena Jr., 81 of Big Spring passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2023, surrounded by family.
The rosary and service will be held on Thursday August 24, 2023, beginning at 9:00 AM at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo followed by a graveside service at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Pena was born on August 19, 1942, in Karnes County, Texas. His parents were Martin and Juana (Guerra) Pena. Martin Pena Jr. is a beloved grandfather (abuelo), father and husband. He was an advocate of civil rights, served in LULAC and served in the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years in Snyder. He worked for over 35 years in the oil field for Texaco and later ChevronTexaco. After retiring, he went to work at the rest area outside of Westbrook for over 10 years. Martin never called in sick to work, not once. He is preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife, Ramona Pena, and siblings Julia Luera and Bob Pena.
Martin Pena Jr. is survived by wife, Maria Pena of Big Spring; two daughters, Rosie Quintela and husband Thomas of San Angelo and Monie Pena and wife Liza Soto of Houston; granddaughter, Cheyenne Quintela of Austin; siblings, George and Ruben Pena and Anita Alvarez of Snyder; step-children, Betty Tobey and husband James of Dallas, Yvonne Rodriguez of Salt Lake City, UT, and Larry Luna and fiancé Clarissa Carrisalez of Big Spring; and step grandchildren, Roman Luna of Big Spring and Savannah Clarady of Dallas.
