Opal Jewell Lewis Hill was peacefully welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on June 15, 2023, at the age of 78. Opal was born March 29, 1945, to Dallas N Lewis and Ruby May Bell Morgan Lewis in Pleasant Hill, Tennessee. She met Milton W. “Skip” Hill II in Washington D.C. in 1968 and married August 23rd the same year. People told them they would never make it. Skip and Opal proved everyone wrong loving one another for 51 years 9 months until his passing in 2020.
Opal worked mostly for civil service her entire career. She worked for the Navy in D.C., Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, and Border Patrol in Alpine and Marfa Tx. At Goodfellow, she worked in Medical Records, Civilian Pay, and the Comptroller’s office.
Opal was loved by everyone she met. She filled her role as preacher’s wife with love, dignity, and pride as she served her Lord and Savior along side her husband. Skip and Opal loved to travel and were blessed to have visited all 50 states! They met and ministered everywhere they went in their RVing travels too.
Opal loved her children and grandchildren deeply. She was always happy to keep her grandbabies at her house. She loved all children, often volunteering in the nursery to take care of the children of the church. She shared her love for the Lord through singing and reading stories.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and brother’s James Tymon Lewis, Arnold Lewis, Donald Lewis, Burl Lewis and Sister’s Deborah Lewis and Virginia Lewis Webb. Left to cherish her memory and her beautiful smile are her children Milton W. “Chip” Hill III wife Jamie and Rhonda Sue Moore husband Cory; her grandchildren Keri, Keelee, Clay, and Molly. One sister, Geneva D Sorrell of Ohio as well as numerous nephews and nieces all over the states with a majority in TN.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Ty Hughston and his nurse, Robin, for their dedicated care to our mother. We also thank Hospice of San Angelo for care and kindness during this time with mom.

In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:2-6 NKJV.
