Angela Kaye Thomas Hollon of Mereta, Texas, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 4, 2023.
Angela was born to Dr. Bobbie and Lucy Thomas on September 22, 1976, in Temple, Texas. After graduating from San Angelo Central High School, she went on to study at Southwest Texas State University for her undergraduate degree and Pepperdine University for her Masters in Clinical Psychology. In recent years, she enjoyed employment as a teacher.
In 2010, Angela married Kyle Hollon. Angela always loved good food but had limited ability in the kitchen; thankfully, Kyle is not only a kind man who was devoted to her and the children, he is an excellent cook. Angela and Kyle had five children: Kyler, Kyden, Kyndall, and her fortieth birthday present, the twins, Kolt and Kash. Her children were the light of her life, and she loved them dearly.
Angela was a loving and devoted friend. She maintained many friendships from childhood and college and will be greatly missed by those who loved her so deeply. She was quick-witted and funny but also very kind with a soft and thoughtful heart. She was goofy, and her friends will remember her forever in their silly thoughts. She was encouraging and a great cheerleader for her children and her friends. Angela will be remembered as a kind and loving soul by all those who knew and loved her.
Angela and her late brother, Les, were only eleven months apart and shared a lifelong bond. When they were little they had their own language and unique way of communicating. Angela was always his great teacher and friend. His death hit her especially hard. The Funeral Mass of the Catholic faith tells us that love does not end at death, it just changes. Knowing that Angela is reunited in Heaven with Les and her beloved grandparents brings peace to a devastating and tragic loss. Rest in Peace, sweet Angela. You were greatly loved, and you will be deeply missed.
Angela is survived by her husband Kyle Hollon and their children Kyler, Kyden, Kyndall, Kolt, and Kash; her parents Lucy (Powell) and Dr. Bob Thomas of Mereta; and her sister Heather (Thomas) Longo and her husband Dan and their children Iris and Daphne Longo of Maryville, Tennessee; her niece Camryn Marie Thomas of Plano; and cousin Bill Thomas and his wife Jennifer and their son Luke of Zurich, Switzerland; Uncle Kyle Allen and Aunt Kelly Powell of Houston. She is also survived by her mother and father-in-law, Mary and Jimmy Hollon, also of Mereta. Mary, better known as Mimi, was the best MIL ever, and Jimmy, better known as PawPaw, was a lifesaver. Angela called him the “Baby Whisperer” and the “Night Nanny”. Both names came from the great affection she had for him.
Angela was preceded in death by her brother Leslie Allen Thomas and her grandparents Wagner Leslie and Maurine Francis (Womack) Thomas, and Robert Lee and Mary Lou (Weaver) Powell, her great-grandparents Melvin Vaughn and Ruby Allen (Holloway) Weaver, her Aunt Debbera Kay Powell Thompson, and her Uncle Billie Carol Thomas.
The Rosary will be held Monday, June 12, 2023, at 6:00 pm at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas. The family will retire to the Fellowship Hall for visitation after the Rosary. The Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Joe Choutapalli Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas, followed by a luncheon and visitation of friends.
Because Angela loved her children more than anything, friends have established a Benefit Account for Hollon Children at the First Financial Bank.
