On Monday, February 27, beloved husband and father Harry James Trainer passed away at age 74 in San Angelo, Texas. His celebration of life is 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church, San Angelo, Texas.
Born to Reginald and Nancy Trainer on December 17, 1948, then called Jimmy for much of his life, he grew up in Sonora, Texas enjoying small-town life and building lifelong relationships through school, Eagle Scouts, and work.
Harry retired from a career in oil production after almost forty years and was the commensurate hobbyist dabbling in contract bridge, bench riflery, watercolor painting, radio-controlled airplanes, and more. Although raised in and loved West Texas, he worked on both land and sea eventually moving to the Texas Gulf Coast to work in offshore oil production. Harry’s love of the water grew, and he served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary flotilla 6-1 for almost 20 years.
Harry is survived by his wife Cynthia Trainer; his sister Regina Trainer Sledge; his daughter Morgan Chegwidden and her husband Jason; stepdaughter Kim Fontaine and her husband Dan; stepdaughter Tracy Oliver and her husband Marc; grand-daughters Reese Oliver, Riley Oliver, Hope Chegwidden, and Gentry Chegwidden.
Special thanks to Drs. Ty Hughston, Felix Marti, Kyle Mills, and Samuel Kasberg and teams for their care and dedication to Harry’s health.
Instead of flowers, the Trainer family encourages donations in memory of Harry should be made to Rust Street Ministries or the City of San Angelo Animal Services.
