Larry Brenek passed away peacefully the morning of Wednesday, February 9, 2023 at Shannon Hospital. Born January 3, 1943 in San Angelo to Alfonse and Albiena (Vidlar) Brenek, Larry was a lifelong resident of the Fairview and Wall communities. He graduated from San Angelo Central in 1961 where he played football and threw shot put. He was a lifelong farmer and also worked a few years as a gin hand for Wall Co-Op. He farmed in the Fairview and Doole areas until he retired in 2015.
His main loves were his hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. In particular, he regularly fished locally at Twin Buttes with his family and local Fairview friends. He also embarked on several long fishing and hunting trips to Mexico, Canada, and Colorado with his good friends Robert, Wally, and Jimmy. Everyone would always comment that Larry was the first to reach his limit, whether fishing or hunting doves or anything in between.
He is survived by his brother Lynn and wife Shirley Brenek of Doole, TX, sister-in-law Dorothy Brenek of Vancourt, TX, nephew Kevin and wife Kristen Brenek of San Angelo, TX, nephew Cody Brenek of San Angelo, TX, niece Annette DeFrees and husband Larry of Hewitt, TX, nephew Allen Brenek of Wall, TX, niece Janet Molder of Wall, TX, niece Jean Brenek of Vancourt, TX as well as numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Jimmie in October 2022, as well as his parents.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Judith Cardenas and Enedelia Reyes, as well as the Preferred Home Health nurses, especially Crystal, for allowing Larry to stay at home for as long as possible.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wall Brethren Church or the Wall Volunteer Fire Department.
