Eva Geraldine “Beppo” Speck passed away peacefully in her home November 24, 2022, at the age of 90. Beppo was a model of grace, love and kindness until her very last moments with us on earth. Her legacy will continue to live on, powered by the love and values that she instilled in all she met.
Beppo was born April 8, 1932, in San Angelo, Texas to Harris and Wille Mae Mohler. She was raised in Menard, Texas and graduated from Menard High School in 1950. Two years later, Beppo married the love of her life, Denny Ray Speck, February 23, 1952. She and Denny resided in Eden, Texas for 50 years before moving to San Angelo, Texas in 2002.
Active in her community, Beppo was a member of numerous bridge clubs, bible study classes, PEO Club, and United Methodist Women. She played piano and organ at UMC in Eden. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and cross stitching.
Her role as Grammy was one she took on with passion and pride. Attending sports games near and far, graduations, birthdays, vacations and hours of card games, she provided immeasurable love, wisdom and support to her grandchildren (and great-grandchildren). Grammy played a big part in her grandkids’ lives, teaching them the meaning of family, hard work and a steadfast faith in Christ.
Beppo is survived by her daughters, Suzy Carroll and Shelly Sanford with husband Todd of San Angelo; daughter-in-law, Darlene Speck of Wall; grandchildren, Jessie Fett (Phillip) of San Angelo, Matt Carroll (Kristen) of Anchorage Alaska, Scott Speck (Victoria) of San Angelo, Drew Carroll (Carol) of Spring, Cole Sanford (Hayley) of Dallas, Garrett Sanford (Abby) of Lubbock, and Mattie Sanford of San Angelo; 5 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Shirley Mohler and Joy Wilson, brothers-in-law Lee Speck, Joe Speck and Bob Speck; numerous loved nieces, nephews and friends.
