Jimmy D. "JD" Lewis, 81, of San Angelo, passed away on October 19, 2022 in Tom Green County.
Jimmy was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Charles E. Lewis and J. Alice Sibley on August 14, 1941.
He married Mary Grimes on November 21, 1972, in Zephyrhills, Florida. This November would have been their 50th Anniversary.
JD started his employment with GTE of Florida as a telephone installer and advanced to a business systems installer repairman. They moved to San Angelo in 1978 when he transferred to GTE of the Southwest. He worked as a business systems installer/repairman and then became a central office equipment installer. He retired in 1993 with 30 years service. Then he went to work for WSCI installing central office equipment and installing 911 equipment for the Concho Valley Council of Governments. He enjoyed the work that he did.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Alice Lewis, by his brother, Charles G. Lewis, and his sister, Judith A. Steinle. His beloved granddaughter Alexis Lewis.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lewis, his children; sons: Troy D. Lewis and wife Cindy, of Clermont, Florida; Mark C. Lewis and wife Cindy Lou, of Altamont, TN; John D. Lewis and wife Brenda, of San Angelo; and daughters: Joy C. Haynes, of Bushnell, Florida; Angela Thomas of San Angelo. Thirteen beloved grandchildren and twelve beloved great grandchildren and two more on the way.
Pall Bearers: Steven Thomas, Joshua Lewis, Spencer Lewis, Thomas Craddick, Mason Lewis and James Davis.
The family of Jimmy Lewis wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Nurses: Britney, Laura, and Debbie and to Hospice of San Angelo for trying to make him comfortable.
Visitation is on Monday, October 24th, 2022 at Shaffer Funeral Home, 1939 Sherwood Way, San Angelo Tx 325-224-2828. Family will be there from 5-7 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at 10 am atThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2815 Old Christoval Road, San Angelo, Texas.
A graveside service will be held around noon for those wishing to attend. Wilmeth Cemetery, FM 383, Wilmeth, Texas.
