Oscar Guerra Flores, 83, of San Angelo Texas passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Church services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with military honors. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Harper Funeral Home.
Oscar was born in San Angelo, Texas on February 9, 1939, to Elpidio and Hortencia Guerra Flores. He is survived by his only child, “the apple of his eye”, Mona Lisa Atkins; his sister Olga Alcala; grandchildren: Christopher Cruz, Jill & husband Rudy Reyes, Jennifer & husband Keith Drusen, and twins Hunter and Brooke Atkins. He was a blessing to four great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews who all admired and respected their “Uncle Oscar”.
Oscar was blessed to have many friends in his lifetime to include close friends, Ernest Guevara, Eddie Alderete, and Jr. Govea. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Elpidio and Hortencia Flores, brother Tony "Charro" Flores, sisters Yolanda Spears and Olivia Luera.
Oscar was a military veteran and proudly served in the U. S. Army. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was waiting for Sunday's game when he passed on Saturday which is probably why the Cowboys lost and San Angelo received thunder and rain. He was always joking with those around him and never took life too seriously. Always there to help anyone.
Oscar was dedicated to serving God and family. He attended church on Saturday evenings. He would tell Mona to schedule family gatherings around church hours. Oscar had a very special bond with his daughter, Mona. Her special memory as a child was when they would always go fishing.
