Robbie Ann Gilliam Faught, 75, passed away peacefully at home on August 2, 2022. She was born in San Angelo, Texas, on February 5, 1947, to Stanley and Ann Gilliam and was the apple of their eye. Growing up in a warm and loving family would influence how she impacted her own. San Angelo was Robbie’s lifelong home. She graduated from Central High School and then Angelo State University. Soon after, she married the love of her life, John C. Faught, in August of 1967. They built a beautiful life together that later included their two children, Angela and Johnny.
Robbie was a devoted educator and loved the opportunity to shape and engage young minds. She retired ten years ago from SAISD after 25 years of teaching. She was actively involved in Philia Club, served on the Alumni Board for her alma mater, Angelo State University, and in various capacities at First Baptist Church. Robbie and her husband John were particularly adept at leading the Married Young Adult Sunday School Department, where many couples grew in their love of each other and the Lord.
Robbie was always up for a party, and if she could decorate for that party, that was even better. She loved art projects and painting and was a wizard with a hot glue gun, giving her the moniker “Robby Lobby.” She loved her people and was routinely surrounded by a laughing group of friends and family. She never missed an event, big or small, that included her children or grandchildren and would often pen a poem or song to celebrate the affair. When she could find a little time to herself, she would sneak away to her happy place in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Robbie was a faithful Christian and reflected God’s love in how she interacted with others. She was an example to many of resiliency and faith.
Robbie is survived by her two children and their families, Mike and Angela Dina (Caroline, Charlie), Johnny and Kaitlyn Faught (Lucille), and lots of loving family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings. Special thanks to numerous caregivers who have assisted in her journey with Parkinson’s Disease over the last several years. They graciously allowed Robbie to live this chapter of her life with dignity and independence.
A Visitation will be held Friday, August 5, from 5-7pm at Harper Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will take place at First Baptist Church on Saturday, August 6, at 10:30 am.
