Dennis Earl (Lewis Earl) Wilson, 88, of San Angelo, Texas went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 26,2022 at home in San Angelo, Texas. Dennis was born on September 29, 1933, at the ranch house in Live Oak (Eden, Tx) to Clifton Edward Wilson and Lydia Marie Fairchild Wilson. He grew up in the Live Oak area around the ranch and San Angelo, Texas. He graduated from Lake View High School in San Angelo and Joined the United States Marines. At the end of his tours, he was assigned to the Marine Recruitment detail in and around the San Angelo area. It was during this time he met Ernestine and immediately love was in the air. They married on March 11, 1953 and spent 66 beautiful and God fearing years until she passed away on 1/1/2020. Dennis was not only a Marine (Semper Fi) but also the best father and grandfather a person could ever want. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1977 due to health problems and spent his remaining years working the property on Spring Creek and made it an absolute showplace. He cleared the land by hand, he had the largest gardens, raised cattle, goats and chickens. After Mimi (Ernie) passed he was lost, heartbroken, and his only desire was to be re-United with her. In 2021 during the “snow apocalypse” he fell and broke his hip, spent 3 months rehab then in August he fell again and fractured his pelvis. Nancy and Brent with Shannon home help was with him every step of the way. They were Great. When his health got worse St Gabriel’s Hospice came in and Deb, Tammy, Veronica and Abby took care of dad like he was there Dad. They gave him the best care and he looked forward to seeing them every chance he got.
He loved traveling to, the casinos and they went 5-6 times a year for over 20 years. He had a strong faith in the Lord and made his home Trinity Lutheran Church.
They made some awesome friends on these trips, and they are like family to us, Butch and Gwen Kirk, Cliff and Janice Miller, and many more.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 66 years Ernestine Marie Crenwelge Wilson, his sister Katheryn Ware and his infant sister Belle, also his oldest son, Clifton Edward Wilson and his daughter Denise Wilson Austin.
He is survived by his son Robert Lewis Wilson of the home, his brother-in-law Gene Crenwelge and his wife Donna, his grandchildren Loren Wilson, Michael Wilson, Misty Hawkins, Kelly Haggart, Stacy Stagman and Thomas Wilson, numerous nieces and nephews and great grandchildren, cousin Mary Ann Showell Linnen of Salt Lake City (who was also born at the ranch house), and Shirley Shotwell of Eldorado.
The visitation will be at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo on Sunday, 7/31/2020 from 5-7 pm. The Funeral service will be at Trinity Lutheran Church also in San Angelo at 10 am with Reverend Allen Eckert officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery.
