Camry Alyse Weinheimer of Stonewall passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022, at the age of 25 surrounded by family. Camry was born on July 25, 1996, in Fredericksburg, Texas to Len A. Weinheimer and Wanda Smarr Franz. Camry was baptized on October 13, 1996, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall.
The youngest of five, Camry was always the center of attention. She had a happy childhood whether it be on horseback at the ranch, on the ball field, or hanging with her family and friends. Throughout her youth, she excelled in softball, showed steers and goats, was crowned Little Miss Peach, was on the FHS Homecoming Court and was the 2013 Gillespie County Fair Queen. She was active in the St. Francis Xavier youth group, 4H, FFA, FCCLA and was a standout high school softball player. Camry was gifted and talented and so much of what she strived to achieve she accomplished.
Camry attended St. Mary’s Catholic School from Kindergarten through eighth grade and was a 2014 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. In fall 2014 she enrolled in Angelo State University where she was a walk-on Rambelle softball player her freshman year and was active in Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society. She graduated from ASU in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. For two years she was a special education teacher in American Literature and assistant director of the drill team at Central High School in San Angelo.
In 2020 she moved back to her beloved Hill Country to fulfill her life-long dream of teaching Kindergarten. She spent two glorious weeks of teaching at Comfort ISD before receiving her diagnosis of Rhabdomyosarcoma. From there she transitioned from a Kindergarten teacher to a warrior. Camry clung to her faith during the good and the bad believing each day that she would overcome the disease. Her family and friends fought the fight with her. So many prayed for a miracle, for Divine Intervention, but as Camry's sickness progressed, we slowly came to the realization and understanding that what we were praying for was something that we already had. Camry was the miracle. Every person she encountered became a better person for having met her. Her faith, her strength, her beautiful heart and positive spirit and outlook on life influenced everyone around her for the better and will for many years to come.
Camry is survived by her father Len A. Weinheimer of Stonewall; mother Wanda and her husband Bertram Franz of Fredericksburg; fiancée Christopher Skokan of Fredericksburg; two brothers and two sisters, Chism and Kyla Weinheimer of New Mexico; Jetta and Chad Eckhardt of Fredericksburg; Lexus and Kameron Haecker of Stonewall; and Cord J.
