Vernon David Norby, 84, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in Bronte.
Public viewing will be from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2022 with graveside services at 2:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2022 in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Norby was born on December 24, 1937 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Ole and Della Bishop Norby. Vernon joined the U. S. Army in 1954 and received the Bronze Star while serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant in 1974. Vernon attended New Mexico Junior College graduating with an associates degree in Auto CAD. He was an independent long haul truck driver for over 20 years, traveling to every state in the Nation multiple times. Vernon married Mary Grace McFall on December 2, 1961. She passed away on March 18, 2017. He loved spending time with his wife and his family.
Vernon was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bridget Norby and a brother, Gordon Norby.
Survivors include his son, J. D. Norby and wife Kathy of Hobbs, New Mexico; a daughter, Verena Grace Norby of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Cole Norby and wife Misty of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Austin Norby and wife Amber of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Nikki Hernandez of Lubbock; and eight great-grandchildren.
