Sandra Kay Kesler Cox of San Angelo, passed away at her home, on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 after a brief yet fierce battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband Michael H. Cox, son Derek P. Cox and wife Jamie, daughter Michelle Cox Mynatt and husband Britt, grandchildren McCoy Cox, Ivie Katherine Mynatt, William Mynatt, Emmie Grace Mynatt, Natalie Cates, Marae Cates and two nephews Allen Tuttlebee and Aubrey Tuttlebee.
Sandra was born on November 5, 1945 in Del Rio, TX to Leroy “Bud” Kesler and Katherine “Kakie” Zuberbueler Kesler. She attended school in Del Rio at Sacred Heart Catholic School then graduated from Del Rio High School in 1964. She went on to study at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. She married her high school sweetheart Michael H. Cox on May 20, 1967. Sandra came from a large extended family and grew up with many of her cousins, considering them to be some of her best friends.
The family ranch was Sandra’s “happy place” and she loved being there with her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Many holidays and long weekends were spent there enjoying the outdoors and being together with her loved ones.
Sandra was an active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a former board member for the Shumla School. She delivered meals to the elderly, loved baseball, working Sudoku puzzles, and made the absolute best Sour Cream Pound Cakes.
She is preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Katherine Zuberbueler Kesler and her sister Sue Ann Tuttlebee.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Angels Catholic Church in San Angelo, TX on Tuesday, April 5, 2022. A Rosary will be said beginning at 9:45am, with the funeral service to follow at 10:00am. Burial will be held at a future date, at the family cemetery in Comstock, TX.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to West Texas Rehab of San Angelo.
Sandy was the pearl in the necklace of life.
