Judy was born on August 4, 1951 in Lamesa to Leland "Ken" and Esther Wilkerson. She graduated from Lamesa High School and moved to Lubbock. While in Lubbock, she was a real estate agent, owned a concrete company and built custom homes. She married Ray Adkins on August 20, 1998 in San Angelo. Judy and Ray owned and operated Adkins Floors on Sherwood Way, retiring in June of 2021.
Early in her life, she loved spending time at the lake, boating and waterskiing. One of her favorite places was the beaches of the Gulf Coast. Judy loved gardening in her backyard, singing and playing guitar, cooking, and spending time with her family. Every New Year's Eve she and Ray would play their annual game of Gin Rummy and sometimes she would even let him win! She also enjoyed playing dominoes and Texas Hold'em with her family during the holidays, always "Rolling on the River" no matter the cards she held in her hand. Judy was full of life and never missed an opportunity to make everyone feel loved.
Judy was preceded in death by a brother, Kenny David Wilkerson.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; three sons, Terrell Gillespie and wife Mary Beth of Richardson, Trace Gillespie and wife Becky of Round Rock, and Teddy Gillespie of Midland; three daughters, Brendi Wills and husband Carlos, Kassie Franklin and husband Jason, and Rayna Adkins, all of San Angelo; two brothers, Monty Wilkerson and wife Vickie, and Delbert Wilkerson and wife Cassie, both of Lamesa; seven granddaughters, Brooke Alvarez and husband Eric of College Station, Kathryn Gillespie of San Angelo, Victoria Gillespie of Austin, Rylee Gillespie of Round Rock, Hallie Gillespie of Lubbock, Hannah Gillespie of Midland, and Raylee Franklin of San Angelo; two great-grandchildren, Ariabella Gillespie and Mason Alvarez.
