Harold Wallace Pack, Sr, 92, of San Angelo, Texas, went home to our heavenly father after passing peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, February 20, 2022.
Harold was born to V.A. Pack and Alma Mullins on February 11, 1930 in Haskell, Texas. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1948 – 1952. At the end of his service as an I.C. Electrician Second Class, he was honorably discharged and then spent his entire professional career in the oil field. He felt strongly about leading by example, with an emphasis on leading, rather than managing the people with whom he worked.
Harold married the love of his life, Millie Smith, on December 12, 1957 in Odessa, Texas. For 64 years, they shared an adoration that taught their children and grandchildren what true love and companionship is supposed to be.
Harold was a valued member of the Paint Rock Masonic Lodge. He had a heart for service and looked forward to his annual trip to distribute toothbrushes to children in need. In 1999, he became a Shriner where, for the past 23 years, he devoted his time to helping young people get the medical attention that they needed and deserved.
Standing at 6’2” tall, you could say that Harold was the strong but silent type. He wasn’t the loudest person in the room, but when he spoke, people listened. He was the epitome of patience, humility, and wisdom. He reserved a special place in his heart for his children and grandchildren. He spent countless weekends taking them out to the lake and teaching them all how to water ski. Although he frequently only moved a few feet before having to turn the boat around to go back for a fallen skier giving it their best effort, he never got frustrated and encouraged them to try again.
Harold is survived by his wife, Millie, children, Sharon Dooney, Shirley Griffice and husband Mike, Jeffrey Pack and wife Sandy, sister-in-law, Jo May Pack, grandchildren, Candy, Johnny, Garland, Kyle, Kory, Alex, Sara, Sheila, and Stacie, and 11 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, V.A. and Alma Pack, his sisters, Rudene Smethers and Jeanette Wheeler, his brother, Arnold Pack, and his son, Harold Wallace Pack, Jr.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, February 24th from 8 AM – 7 PM at Harper Funeral Home, with a chapel service at 11 AM on Friday, February 25th, followed by a graveside laying to rest at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
