Erlinda Berzoza Ortiz, 82, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 19, 2022.
Linda was born July 19, 1939 in Berino, New Mexico to Anastacio and Manuela Berzoza. Linda lost her mother at a very young age. Shortly after her father moved his family to Kermit, Texas. This is where Linda grew up.
Linda was a devout Catholic. She was an active member at St. Margaret of Cortona until her health began to deteriorate. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, CCD instructor/aid and was a Crusillista. She made many friendships that she treasured.
Linda was married to David Ortiz on October 6, 1956. During their 62 years of marriage they were blessed with 5 children. She took pride in her family and their accomplishments. She was the rock in our family and the strongest woman we’ve ever known. She passed that spirit down to her children.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, her daughter Nora and her grandson Nicholas. She is also preceded in death by her step mother Sotera and sibling Emma, Ramon, Raymundo, Nena, Josephine, Enedina, Tony and their spouses.
Linda is survived by her children Norma and husband Robert Gonzales of San Antonio, Charles Ortiz of Marfa, Texas, Nancy and Johnny Vasquez of Del Río and Natalie and Anastacia Ortiz of Big Lake; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind one very special 4 legged companion, Alfred.
The family would like to express our most sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of San Angelo Hospice.
Flowers can be sent to Harper Funeral Home or Donations made in her memory to San Angelo Hospice. Mom loved nothing more than watching her granddaughter play basketball and run track. She also took great joy in watching all the other athletes play at all levels. Keep Mom's memory alive by taking in a game at your local middle/high school.
