Sue Bramhall, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, February 18, 2022. Sue was born Sept. 20, 1933 to Wylie and Bertha Reese in the Oak Grove community outside of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
She was the youngest of 10 children growing up in a very close and active family.
She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School at the age of 16. She was married to Wayne Bramhall on May 29, 1951 in Texarkana, Texas.
She had three loving children Joe Paul, Brenda and Julie.
Her acquaintances called her Sue. Her family (extended and otherwise) knew her as Sue Sue.
Sue was a woman of high integrity and loved the Lord. She worshipped at the Johnson Street Church of Christ where she and her family were dedicated members for many, many years.
She was a true servant and loved her relationships with her church family that became her extended family.
After marriage, Wayne and Sue lived and worked in Chicago, IL where Wayne was stationed in the Army. They then lived in Irving, Tx where Wayne worked for Wyatt Food Stores. Joe Paul was born in Irving. They relocated to Abilene where Brenda were born. They moved to San Angelo in 1967 where Julie was born and made San Angelo their home.
Sue was very talented in many ways, but as an executive assistant and administrator, she began a long career in public service in the District Clerk's office. She was known as Mrs. Bramhall at the court house where she was the District Clerk of Tom Green County for 19 years from 1979-1998. She was selected by her peers as the outstanding District Clerk in the State of Texas, 1994-95.
Sue was blessed with a servant's heart. She assisted in numerous church and civic activities and portrayed a role of Christian obedience. Possessing a keen mind, she was also an avid bridge player. Most of all she was a loving Mother, best friend and confidant with all of her grandchildren.
Sue remained very close to her East Texas family, and became engaged in all of the activities of her children and grandchildren.
Sue Sue was a competitor, and she seldom missed a sporting event traveling many miles to watch her children and grandchildren play in any sport or activity.
She endured many, many evenings in sporting and UIL events for all her grandchildren. Yes, she loved and adored her children, but each of the grandchildren knew that they were loved even more.
After her retirement from the Clerk's position, Sue volunteered her time with the Auxiliary at Shannon Hospital. As with other parts of her life, she immersed herself in her new duties and once again became a road warrior for the Hospital Volunteer cause. She became the secretary of the State Hospital Volunteer Board and was in line for the presidency. Her duties included arranging state conferences and inviting speakers for those conferences. She was the current recording secretary for the local chapter of hospital volunteers at Shannon Hospital.
She loved her work with the Hospital Volunteer association and became the ultimate patient advocate.
She was a treasure to all who knew her and an Angel to all she loved.
She is survived by son, Dr. J.P. Bramhall and wife, Belle of College Station, daughter, Brenda Montgomery and husband Wrey of San Angelo and daughter Julie Campbell and husband Thorne of San Angelo. Grandchildren – Bobby Bramhall of Nashville, TN; Kaci Anderson and husband, Chase of College Station; Reese Montgomery of San Angelo; Madalyn Campbell of San Angelo, Wyatt Campbell of Austin and Cade Campbell of San Angelo.
