Ben Franklin Lacy, 80, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
Ben was born February 13, 1941 in San Angelo, Texas to Lester Ewin and Loma Frances Lacy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Exa and W.A. Smith; brother, Lester Ewin “Sonny” Lacy; and sister Donita Kay Lacy.
He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Glenda Joy Smith of Miles, Texas, and they celebrated 63 wonderful anniversaries together.
Ben was raised in Miles, Texas, where he expressed a keen interest in sports as a true Bulldog athlete. His love of sports was something he carried with him throughout his life. He attended San Angelo College, The University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from Southwest Texas State University.
Ben was a true jack of all trades, and his entrepreneurship took him and his family to all ends of Texas. His career started with pharmaceutical sales, followed by becoming the owner/operator of farm implement dealerships. Ben also was a real estate owner and operator, and was co-owner of The Tierra Group, a real estate sales and management company. All along, he kept up with his ranching and farming roots, and worked alongside his family at Benchmark Research as CFO and sage advisor, helping further revolutionary advancements in pharmaceutical development.
His greatest loves were his wife and family, his loyal pups, sports (golf in particular), and good ol’ belly laughs. He was happiest spending quality time out on his ranch in Miles, Texas.
Ben is survived by his wife, Glenda; son Mark Lester Lacy and Scott Barrett of Austin; daughter Cynthia LeAnn and husband Dr. William Michael Seger of Forth Worth; grandchildren Benjamin Ewin Seger and wife Julia, Joseph Michael Seger, Lacy Kathleen Seger, Maria Elizabeth Seger, and James Dalton Seger; and great grandson William Ewin Seger.
Ben lived his life to the fullest, always seeking and finding adventures. He wholly encompassed life as a son of the Republic of Texas.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anderton and his office staff at Shannon for taking such good care of our “Pawp”.
