Billy R. Vickery, 90, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2021. Bill was born November 5, 1931, in Lindale, Texas to John and Addie Mae Vickery. He grew up in Tyler, Texas and graduated from high school there. He attended University of Texas and Tyler Junior College before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Bill served his country honorably for four years while being trained as an air traffic controller. He spent over 35 years as an air traffic controller. Bill was married to Esther Baker for 34 years, being blessed with 3 children. After Esther’s passing, Bill married Sharon McFarlin on January 19, 1991 and shared over 31 beautiful years together. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who devoted his life to his family and Christ.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Esther, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Sharon W. Vickery, of San Angelo; his children, Dawn Vickery, of Ingleside, Texas; Jill Flores and her husband Albert, of Ingleside, Texas; Gayle Holcomb and her husband Terry, of Wall, Texas; Cindy Achilles and her husband Jon, of Gilbert, Arizona; Dana Hamilton, of San Angelo and Curt McFarlin and his partner Michael McHale of Lyons, Colorado; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans at dav.org or Hospice of San Angelo.
The Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 22, 2021 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Reverend Joel Moore officiating.
