Robert “Bob” Doss Hambright, age 91, of San Angelo was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 28, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away in his home in San Angelo, Texas surrounded by his family.
Bob was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 65 years. Throughout their marriage, Bob and Dorothy supported each other in every way. They worked together to create a loving home, which they shared with family and many loving friends.
Survivors include son, Robert Kyle Hambright and wife Sandy of Arlington, Texas; son, Randall Kevin Hambright and wife Tamara Hambright of Arlington, Texas; Nephew, Jim Bob Hambright and wife Glenda of Fredericksburg, Texas as well as his many other nieces and nephews. Bob’s beloved grandchildren were the light of his life, and include Landon Hambright of Kansas City, Missouri; Chase Hambright of Arlington, Texas; Jared Hambright of Fort Worth, Texas; Taylor Hambright of Arlington, Texas; and great grandson, River Hambright, son to Taylor Hambright and Hali Raines of Arlington, Texas. Also dear to Bob’s heart was his precious dog Boots.
Bob was born to James and Myrtle Hambright on September 13, 1930, in Norton, Texas where he grew up farming. Upon graduating from Norton High School, Bob entered the Navy where he was commissioned as a steam boiler technician responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of the Navy ship’s steam-propulsion system. After proudly serving his country, Bob returned to his home in Norton, Texas where he resumed farming and cattle ranching. Shortly thereafter, Bob accepted a position as a Texas Control Inspector with Hartford Steam Boiler Insurance Company where he was employed for 23 years. Upon his retirement from Hartford, Bob commenced a long and established career in the construction business wherein he subsequently built homes and apartment complexes in San Angelo and throughout the state of Texas and Arkansas. Bob later expanded his construction company to include plastering and roofing contracting. Bob and Dorothy were active members of San Angelo First United Methodist Church.
Bob was the youngest of two brothers, and was always blessed with a strong work ethic which carried him throughout his life. Bob had a tremendous sense of humor and loved being around family and friends. Bob had many interest which included fishing, golf, watching football, dancing, telling jokes and taking many trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada. Bob was also known for making wonderful peanut brittle which he loved sharing with family and friends.
The family would like to thank all of the personal caregivers, the staff of Hospice of San Angelo and the Veterans Administration who cared for Bob during his illness. The family would also like to thank his many Southridge Homeowners Association neighbors with who Bob and Boots loved to fellowship.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd, San Angelo, Texas.
