Oleta Inez Boyd of San Angelo, Texas passed away September 21, 2021 in San Angelo. She was 95.
Best known to family and friends as Inez or “Tutta,” she was born to parents Homer and Erma Bessie Martin in Talpa, Texas on April 22, 1926. She was the first of two daughters, along with sister Joy (Martin) Henkhaus.
On September 23, 1944, she married Francis Edward “Eddie” Boyd following his return from duty with the United States Air Force in World War II. Together, they raised three sons and forged a life dedicated to the service of their country, their community, their family, and above all else, their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Inez had a wonderfully creative spirit. She was gifted at creating flower arrangements, having studied under Japanese masters and later rising to the rank of state judge in the craft. Additionally, she gardened, painted, played piano, and was a tremendous home cook. She also loved taking her grandchildren on long roadtrips to see the Texas wildflowers each spring, dragged anyone she could get her hands on to church, and was a person to be feared at most card tables.
She was a dynamic and extraordinary woman of God who lived her life in three states, two continents, and a big blue house on Monroe Street that will always feel like “Christmas Eve” to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and beloved husband Eddie. She is survived by sons Joe Edward Boyd and wife Shelley, of San Angelo; Robert Glenn Boyd and wife Vicki, of Holly Lake, Texas; and Donald Lynn Boyd and wife Linda, of San Angelo; as well as seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at First Baptist Church in Mertzon, Texas.
