Henry Franklin “Frank” Owens, 79, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in San Angelo. Frank was born December 27, 1941, in Crawfordville, Georgia to William and Carrie Vandiver Owens. Frank grew up in Crawfordville and graduated from high school there. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country honorably for 4 years. Frank then went to work for the Southern Pacific Railroad company as a telegrapher clerk for many years, before moving to Fort Stockton and going into the petroleum industry. He became a gas plant operator for Valero and retired from there after 20 years of service. Frank met and later married the love of his life Sue Vaun Haynes and they shared 57 beautiful years together and raised two children. Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his Savior and his family. He was a member of San Angelo Apostolic Church and loved his church family dearly. In his spare time, he collected coins, traced his family ancestry, and spent hours studying the bible. Frank had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable. He was generous and giving, quick to offer money or help others. He was a very organized person in all aspects of his life. He is deeply missed by his dog Bo Bo and their nightly peanut ritual.
He was best at being a grandpa though. Spending hours walking the creek, reading books, playing cards, and fishing. Things will not be the same without Pa to tell the boys to shut the barn door or to bring his tools back. Frank’s tremendous love and devotion to his Lord and his family will live on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Brian Dewayne Owens and his 4 sisters, Hattie Gilland, Belle Dingler, Linda Stevens and Laura Stevens. Frank is survived by his loving wife, Sue V. Owens, of San Angelo; his daughter, Stacy Wilcox and her husband Gregg, of San Angelo; his grandchildren, Brayden Wilcox and Brendon Wilcox, both of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 11, 2021, at San Angelo Apostolic Church with Pastor Gregg Wilcox officiating. The burial will follow at Knickerbocker Community Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Gerry Wilcox, Derry Wilcox, Austin Wilcox, Kevin Wilcox, John Jameson, Sedeki Bahati, Joe Don Coon, Eric Grayson.
