Maria Aurora “Ama” Lopez Galindo, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021, at Shannon South Hospital in San Angelo, TX.
Aurora was born on August 11, 1936, in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico, to Jose and Aurora Lopez. She married Otilo Rodriquez Galindo on January 9, 1955. They were married for 47 years before Otilo went with the Lord on March 22, 2002. Together they made their home in the Concho Valley, eventually moving to Christoval, TX. Aurora was known for her hospitality and incredible work ethic. As a devout Catholic and member of Immaculate Conception Church in Knickerbocker, TX her faith was unwavering as she generously gave her time and effort to the church. Aurora’s passion for her faith and family paired with her generous giving spirit will forever remain in our hearts and will be missed dearly.
Aurora was preceded in death by her husband, Otilo Galindo, her parents Jose and Aurora Lopez, her siblings Roberto Lopez, Arnulfo Lopez, and Antonia Lopez, and her children Orlando Galindo, Lucy Galindo, and Juan Antonio Galindo. She is survived by her siblings Maria “Cuca” Lopez of Eagle Pass, Jesus Lopez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, and Antonio Lopez of Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. Aurora leaves behind her children, Rosie Diaz and husband Jesse of Christoval, Martha Dixon and husband David of San Angelo, Toby Galindo and wife Julie of San Angelo, Griselda Galihadd and husband Jason of San Angelo, Rebecca Galindo of San Angelo, Homer Galindo and wife Tammy of Clyde. Aurora was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Jason Galihadd, Jr., Darryl Stewart, Manuel Diaz, Mitch Stewart, Brittany Morrison, Megan Stewart, Victoria Galindo, Christopher Galindo, Robert Galindo, Michaela Galindo, and Jeffrey Galindo. Aurora leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren Briana Morrison, Season and Mackenzie Goodgion, Coby Stewart, Candis Raffray, Joslyn Jones, Sienna Monique Galindo, along with one great-great-grandchild, Brexley Mae Raffray.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Stewart, Chris Galindo, Jeffrey Galindo, Brandon Morrison, David Dixon, and Manuel Diaz.
A special thank you is extended to Amy Hallbrooks, her caregivers, and Aurora’s six children who cared for her.
A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2021, in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 6, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Church in Knickerbocker, TX with interment to follow at nearby Knickerbocker Cemetery.
