Jimmy Don Ellis, 69, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2021 in Abilene, TX. Jimmy was born November 21, 1951 to William and Alberta Ellis. He grew up in Littlefield, Texas and graduated from Littlefield High School. After high school, he decided to become a cotton ginner. He worked for many cotton gins all over the State of Texas and even started a business repairing cotton gins. Jimmy then worked as a technician for Cox Cable in San Angelo for many years. He later attended Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School in Purcell, Ok and graduated from there. Jimmy worked as a farrier for several years and mastered his skill while serving many clients in the San Angelo area. Eventually, Jimmy decided to go into trucking and continued his work in the transportation industry until his death. Jimmy married Linda Ruth Hopper on July 19, 2003 and they shared 18 wonderful years together. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly.
Jimmy had a very gentle and fun-loving nature about him and at the same time was a shining example of hard work and perseverance to his children and grandchildren. He always stayed very young at heart, and in his spare time loved camping and dancing. His passion, however, was singing and playing the guitar. Jimmy played with several bands, at different times, in the San Angelo area and loved his experience playing for others. His love of family, passion for music and gentle caring spirit will remain in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Janet Ellis and one son, Jimmy Mark Ellis. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ellis, of San Angelo; his daughter, Melonie Freeman and her husband Gary, of Seminole, TX; his sons, Michael Ellis, Bryan Davis and his wife Darla, of Littlefield, TX, Blake Davis and his wife Michelle, of Levelland, TX and Blayne Davis and his wife Lauren, of Stamford, TX; 13 Grandchildren; 11 Great Grandchildren; his brother, Ronnie Ellis and his wife Sharlita, of San Angelo; and numerous other family members and many close friends.
