Winna Jean Mills (Jean), 98, of San Angelo, TX passed peacefully into her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 30, 2021, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo. Arrangements are under the direction of Harper Funeral Home and Crematory with Ryan Buck officiating.
Jean was born July 22, 1923, in San Angelo to William Charlie Bolin and Francis Elizabeth (Binyon) Bolin. She graduated San Angelo High School in 1941. Jean contributed to the war effort and worked at Goodfellow Air Force Base packing chutes for the pilots and in the office of the 68th School Squadron. Jean married Earl Jackson Mills on October 7, 1944, in San Angelo. They were lifelong San Angelo residents. Jean worked in the attendance office at San Angelo Central High School for 25 years from 1963 until her retirement in 1988. Her aides and many students remember her fondly. Jean was a lifetime member of the PTA having served as President at Reagan Elementary for many years. She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist church for over 70 years, joining the church in 1950.
Momma loved roses, feeding the birds and the Dallas Cowboys. She enjoyed watching Family Feud and The Price Is Right. She loved to read, work word puzzles, and play bingo.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Mills, brothers Stanley Bolin and Charles Bolin, son Mike Mills, and daughter Cindy Preas all of San Angelo.
She is survived by daughters; Karen (Wally) Page of San Angelo, Karla (Bobby) Edmond of Baird, TX, and son; Andy Mills of San Angelo, daughter in law; Betty Mills and son in law; Jerry Preas of San Angelo, grandchildren; William Mills, Cassie (David) Wilson, Valerie (Justin) Saenz of San Angelo, Tracie Page of Harker Heights, Charlie Page and Chelsea Preas of San Angelo, 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great -great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends including Doris Pool and Wanda Hudson.
The family request memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church or Meals for the Elderly, 310 East Houston Harte Expressway, San Angelo, TX 76903.
