JoAnn Page Thornton Cortese went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 10, 2021. She was born September 21, 1936, in San Angelo to Theodore A. and Mona Ditmore Page. JoAnn grew up in San Angelo as the daughter of Mona Thornton and O.B (Red) Thornton.
JoAnn graduated from Lake View High School In 1956. She then attended Angelo Commercial College. She met and married the love of her life in 1957, Sonny Cortese, and then began an amazing 63 years of marriage. Their great love and devotion for one another has always been an inspiration to many. She was employed by General Telephone Company for 9 years and then owned San Angelo Billing Company for over 30 years. She loved being involved in the community and was a member of New Timers Club, Garden Club as well as the North Angelo Lioness Club. JoAnn and Sonny loved to travel and were fortunate to see many beautiful places making lifelong memories.
JoAnn and Sonny were blessed with two children, Steve Cortese and Tammy Jones both of San Angelo. One of JoAnn's greatest joys were her grandchildren. Her amazing faith and love for Christ was enriched greatly by being a faithful member of The First United Methodist Church. Their Sunday School class (Cheers class) was like family to her. She loved the fellowship and friendships she had at church. She had a lot of love and support from her fellow Christians.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents Theodore Page, Mona Page Thornton, and O.B (Red) Thornton. Her grandson Nicholas Cortese and sisters Jackie Hill and Shirley Keeling. She is survived by her husband Sonny Cortese, one sister Barbara Bonnell and husband Mike of San Antonio, her son Steve Cortese, daughter Tammy Jones and husband Jay of San Angelo.
Grandchildren, Jarrod-Reynolds of Colorado, Brooke Reynolds of New Mexico, Ally Cortese of - San Angelo, Ross Jones of Missouri, Lane Jones of Missouri, Jacee Martin and husband Bradley of San Angelo. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was truly a remarkable woman...Loving, caring and compassionate. Always with a beautiful smile and positive attitude no matter what the situation. She loved with her whole heart and loved others without judgement. No words can explain how much she will be missed, but knowing she is in the arms
of Jesus will be our comfort. Service will be at First United Methodist Church Saturday July 17,
2021, at 10:00 am. Lunch will follow at the church, hosted by the Cheers Class Family and Friends. Visitation will be at Harpers Funeral Home Friday Evening July 16th 5:00-7:00 pm
