Cotton Brown, Jr., 89 of Grape Creek, Texas completed his final route July 6th, 2021, after a short battle with cancer. Cotton was born to Marvin Alfred Brown, Sr. and Vera Mae Walden on June 26th, 1932, in Hillsboro, Tx. He attended school in Donna, Panhandle and Big Spring, Texas and worked in Paris and Kingsville before settling in San Angelo, Texas.
He met and married the love of his life, Mary Elouise Baker on August 21st, 1954.
He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953-1955. His work life included farming, ranching, logging, mattress constructing, upholstery, carpet installation, seismographer, and finally his 64 year career of truck driving. He retired from Sherwood Oil as a dispatcher in the transport department. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with grand and great-grandkids. He was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church.
Cotton is survived by his wife of 66 years. Together they had three children, Kathleen Childress, Marlin Brown (wife, Karyn) and Cynthia Skinner (husband, Billy Skinner) all of San Angelo. Grandchildren Chadd (wife, Shelby) Brown, Kadryn (husband, Anthony) Alvarado, Tamra (husband, David) Kelly, Colby (wife, Shelby) Skinner, Jassy (husband, Bruce) Schovajsa, and Jobe (wife, Morgan) Skinner. Great Grandchildren Kyzrie Shields, Kaibree, Kiah and baby Alvorado, Hagen and Calen Schovajsa, Brody and Daxtyn Brown, Saegun, Mavrik and Hendrix Kelly, Rylee Skinner, Blaise and Blane Skinner, and his special nephew Larry Weaver along with a large extended family.
Cotton was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Graveside services arranged by Harper Funeral Home will be Thursday, July 8th, 10:00am at Grape Creek Cemetery with Brother Brad Winchester officiating.
