Patricia Louise Speck Lovelace, 79, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 9, 2021 in San Angelo. Patricia affectionately known as Pat, was born September 2, 1941 in San Angelo, Texas to Edward Herman and Jessie Ann Ellis Speck. She grew up in Menard and graduated from Menard High School. After high school she attended Sul Ross State University where she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts and teaching certification. Pat accepted a position teaching at the elementary school level in San Angelo after college. She taught first grade at Bowie Elementary for many years, treasuring the influence she could have on the children’s young lives. Pat cherished each and every child equally, sustaining lifelong relationships with many of them. In 1972, Pat accepted a position with the Education Service Center Region XV, serving as Program Director of Special Education. Pat received her Master of Art’s Degree in Teaching from Angelo State University in 1975 would receive various other educational certificates from Texas A&M University and Texas Tech University as well. During her career she was a member of numerous professional organizations including Phi Delta Kappa – Concho Valley Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, Theta Omicron, Texas Council for Exceptional Children and Texas Association of School Administrators. She retired in 2004 after 32 years of dedicated service. Pat met and later married the love of her life Robert “Bob” Lovelace on December 18, 1982 in San Angelo and they shared 34 wonderful years together. She was a kind and caring daughter, sister, and wife, who devoted her life to the education of children and her family. In her spare time, she loved going to the beauty shop every Wednesday, gardening in her yard and being at her ranch. Pat loved the family ranch in Eden, Texas. She had a tremendous love of animals of all kinds and enjoyed watching them in their environment on the ranch, but most of all having her special sidekick “Thomas” her cat. Her standard of excellence in teaching children and her love of animals will carry on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss her! Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob Lovelace, and her brother Frank “Pancho” Edward Speck. She is survived by her nephews, Quintin Speck, of Menard, and Cody Garrison Speck, of Brady, TX; her “special son”, Jorge Hernandez, of Eden, TX; and numerous cousins, other family members and close friends. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to Rita Galindo for all the loving care given to Pat over the years. The graveside service will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 19, 2021 at Fairmount Cemetery with family friend Rev. Penny Wade officiating.
