Joe Escamilla, 71, of Eola, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.
Public viewing will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Monday, March 1, 2021, at St. Phillips Catholic Church id in Eola with Father Bal Anthony Govindu, officiating. Burial will follow at Eola-Mereta Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Joe was born March 23, 1949 in Eden to Jesse and Carmen Escamilla. Joe married Linda Bowden on February 14, 1975 in Ozona. He has been a lifelong resident of the Eola area and was a member of the Eola Volunteer Fire Dept. He was also a member of the St. Phillips Catholic Church. Joe was a truck driver, ginner, welder and cowboy for Mikeska Gin and Grain for over 30 years until retiring in 2009. Joe worked in the agriculture industry his whole life. He enjoyed cowboying and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; four sons, Andrew Escamilla of Paige, Joe Escamilla and wife Renita of San Antonio, Daniel Gutierrez of Llano, and Robert Scoggin of Eola; a daughter, Kay Lynn Velez of San Angelo; two brothers, Johnny Alexander and wife Angelica of Bixby, OK, and Gilbert Esquivel and wife Annette of Temple; six sisters, Martha Torres and husband Senon and Mary Lisa Castillo and husband Luis both of Menard, Lupe Barrera and husband Jesse and Mary Jane Escamilla both of Brownwood, Ester Alford of Seguin, and Mary Torres of Eola; six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Todd Scoggin; and sisters, Josie Galindo and Linda Escamilla.
