Estevan S. Montez, 93, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021, at his home surrounded by family.
Public Viewing will be from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM with the Rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. Military rights are afforded by US Army Ft. Hood Honor Guard.
Mr. Montez was born November 26, 1927 in San Angelo to Santiago and Vicenta Montez. Estevan married Carolina Gutierrez on April 24, 1949 in San Angelo where he was a lifelong resident. Estevan was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Estevan work for Pace Dry Goods and San Angelo Leather Company for several years. He also worked at Ethicon in the shipping and receiving department retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, he loved playing the guitar with the choir. Estevan was an avid wood worker and loved working with his hands.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Carolina; three sons, Jim Montez and George Montez and wife Liz all of San Angelo, and Richard Montez and wife Debbie of Arlington; two daughters, Alicia M. Parrish and husband Joe of San Angelo, and Maria Sosa and husband Armando of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. Estevan was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Montez Cadena in 2016, and five siblings.
