On Monday, July 27th, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Robert Joseph Hohreiter opened his eyes, gave his wife of 59 years one last kiss and passed away. He was 82 years old and surrounded by his family.
Robert was born on December 6, 1937 in Bainbridge, New York. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years and 20 years at Sears Roebuck.
On March 18, 1961 he married Evelyn Gay Mullins. They raised 3 sons, Rodney, Robert, and Tim and 1 daughter, Kellie.
Robert loved golf and was given the nickname “Boomer” because of his short stature, but long and powerful drive down the fairway. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, bowling, reading mystery novels, crossword puzzles, a good game of Trivial Pursuit, and bringing joy to his grandchildren. Robert enjoyed learning new things and liked to have a lively conversation. He shared his joy of family by taking countless photos. He started taking selfies before selfie was in the dictionary.
Robert received a commendation for his superior work serving in the Air Force and he was highly regarded by his supervisors and commanders. He believed in doing everything to the highest standard.
Robert is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gay Hohreiter, his four children, Rodney and his wife Kathy Hohreiter, Robert Hohreiter, Tim Hohreiter, and Kellie (Hohreiter) Conlon and her husband Frank Conlon, his grandchildren Brian Brosh and his wife Misty, Shane Hohreiter, Samantha King, Johnathan Conlon, Sydney King, Nicholas Conlon, Nathan Hohretier, and his great grandchildren, Gage Brosh, Kaden Brosh, Rylan Brosh, Hagen Hohreiter, and Landen Hohreiter.
Robert Joseph Hohreiter will have a graveside service with full military honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on August 3rd, at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, you can make a charitable donation to National Wreaths Across America www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/pages/… or consider volunteering on National Wreaths Across America Day on December 19, 2020.
