Michael Durand Kelly passed away peacefully to join his parents and loved ones in heaven on June 24, 2020. He was born to Benjamin F. Kelly and Alvetta Spurlock Kelly on March 8, 1958. Michael grew up in San Angelo, Texas and graduated from Central High School. After high school, Michael attended Angelo State University. Michael worked as a graphic artist for Newman Design Company, Standard Times and Town & Country Design department.
As a lifelong graphics artist one of his most defining moments was his graphics business MDK Multimedia, Artist, Designer and Consultant. Michael was business minded, always reading and researching new business topics. He loved to talk to young people with encouragement of starting their own business, whatever their talent or passion was. To those of you who helped Michael with his business projects, we say Thank you.
Michael’s second passion was cooking for friends and family. His favorite meal to cook was breakfast, which was known as “Big Breakfast”.
Michael remained brave throughout his final weeks. To all those who knew him, he never lost that unique since of humor.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: two sisters, Sharon Kelly Rivers of Missouri City, Texas and Patricia Kelly Thompson of San Angelo, Texas. His self-adopted daughters, Hope Aguero of San Angelo, Texas and Stephanie Losoya of San Angelo, Texas. Michael also leaves behind two aunts Dessie Kelly of Inglewood, CA and Bobbie Kelly of Clinton, MD., a nephew, Andre Thompson, Kelien Thompson and Alyssa Thompson and a host of relatives and friends, including his very special friends, Steve Flores, Don Schaaf, Ken Milton, Curry Hawkins Charles Njemanze, Yuel Harris, Dr. Steven Hines, Leo Cornejo and Family.
Our family expresses deep appreciation to the Doctor’s, staff members and nurses at Angelo Community Medical Center and Shannon Medical Center for the love, care and attention that was giving to Michael.
A funeral service will be held at Harper Funeral Home on July 3, 2020, at 11:00am.
Donations can be made to the Ben & Alvetta Kelly Football Scholarship Endowment at Angelo State University, which will annually award a scholarship to a member of the ASU Rams football team.
