David Lee Montgomery, Jr., 65, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 15, 2020 in San Angelo. David was born May 7, 1955 in St. Louis, MO to David Lee Montgomery, Sr., and Alvester Cowsen Montgomery. He grew up in East St. Louis, Illinois and graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in 1972. David worked various jobs after high school eventually becoming a welder by trade. He worked for several companies, including Carter Steel and more locally Hirschfield Steel. He married Lynetta Kennedy in 1980 and they shared 40 beautiful years of marriage together. David confessed Christ at an early age in Illinois at Macedonia Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and had strong faith in Him. He was blessed with a talent in music and frequently enjoyed playing his keyboard and guitar for his family and friends. David was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather who devoted his life to his Lord and his family. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially for cook outs and he enjoyed socializing with people and had a tremendous sense of humor. David’s love for the Lord, his family and his passion for music will remain in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lynetta, and one sister Alice Holbert. David is survived by his son, David Wess Montgomery, of Jacksonville, IL; his daughter, Sherra Montgomery, of Jacksonville IL; his step son, Kenyetta Kennedy, of Jacksonville, IL; his granddaughter, Autumn Montgomery; 2 brothers, Larry Montgomery and his wife Beatrice, of San Angelo, and Arthur Montgomery, of San Angelo; his sister, Marilyn Moore and her husband Larry, of San Angelo; his nephews, Shontez Montgomery and Harlee Gigger; his nieces, Shanae Falsola, and Crystal Montgomery. He is also survived by a host of great nephews and great nieces and cousins. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Harper Funeral Home with the Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 P.M.
