Renee’ (Hancock) Dawson, 65, of San Angelo, Texas, passed peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2020. She was born July 6, 1954 in Lovington, New Mexico, to Buford R. “Don” Hancock and Odievie Elizabeth (Elliott) Hancock.
Being raised in Lovington, she was a Wildcat through-and-through, and, during her high school years, she could be seen in her cheerleading uniform on Friday nights rooting for her team. Lovington remained her home through the summer following her 1972 high school graduation. She married her childhood sweetheart, Marty Kernan Dawson, on July 31, 1972 in Lovington with the couple making their first home in Houston, Texas. They later returned to the Lovington/Hobbs area, and eventually retired to San Angelo to take on the full-time roles of “World’s Best Mimi & Poppy”.
Renee’ was a member of PaulAnn Church and is best remembered for her kindness, patience, and generosity to all. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, gardening, crocheting, and watching Avengers movies. This beloved wife, mother, and mimi enjoyed acting on her ornery streak by cleverly teasing her family. As the oldest granddaughter of her extended family, she was adored by her younger cousins and served as a wonderful role model. Renee’ was truly everyone’s favorite!
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years and her parents. Surviving her are daughter and son-in-law, Lisa & Sterling Price of Sonora, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Mandy & Michael Osborne of San Angleo, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Donny & Paula Hancock; grandchildren, Makinna Price, Sarah Osborne, & Dawson Osborne of the respective homes; and nephews Scott Hancock & family and Kyle Hancock & family. She is cherished and remembered by a host of extended family and friends.
