Pauline Christene Strakos Mazur was born of Ludwig A. Strakos and Willemina Fisher Strakos on November 27, 1926 just minutes before her twin sister, Dorine Binder. She had one older brother, Victor Strakos (deceased) and 6 additional siblings; Rosie Motl of Llano, TX, Josie Egan of Lancaster, TX, Joseph Strakos of Sherman, TX, Bennie and Betty Strakos (deceased) and James Strakos of Florida. With such a large family, hard work was the norm. Pauline was forced to stay home and work in the fields after her 8th grade year of school. In the forty's, Pauline and her sisters, Rosie and Dorine, were members of a traveling western band called "The Westerners." Pauline was a gifted accordion player and was very proud of her accomplishments. She also played in an all girls baseball league as pitcher for the Lowake Red Caps. She loved the movie "A League of Their Own." Pauline married Bennie Victor Mazur in 1950. Bennie and Pauline have 3 children; Kenneth Charles Mazur, Michael Joseph Mazur, and Kathryn Elaine Jones. Shortly after Kathie was born, the couple left the chicken farm outside of San Angelo and moved to Odessa, Texas. As the children grew up, Pauline found her passion of bowling and her job at Strike It Rich in Odessa. Pauline's responsibilities at Strike It Rich were numerous. Her last position there was managing the framing department. Wanting to be closer to where they grew up, Bennie and Pauline moved to San Angelo in 1981 where they opened Pauline's Frame Shop. Her dream of owning her own business had been fulfilled. Bennie predeceased Pauline in 1998. In 2010, Pauline moved to Ballinger, TX, where she and William Binder took care of each other until it became necessary for Pauline to move into Ballinger's Central Texas Nursing and Rehab Center.
Pauline is survived by her three children, Kenneth Mazur and his wife Rynn of Alto, NM.; Michael Mazur and his wife Sarah of Alto, NM.; Kathryn Jones and her husband Charles of San Angelo, TX. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Kelly Stewart of Oregon City, Oregon; Kacy Mazur of Portland, Oregon; Adrianne Kincade and her husband Travis of Mansfield, TX; Kent Mazur and his wife Sarah of Houston, TX; Jaclyn Jones of San Angelo, TX; and Lori Jones and fiancé Shane Boswell of San Angelo, TX, as well as seven great grandchildren and a large extended family.
