Doris “Jeannie” Williams, age 85, of San Angelo went to be with her Lord Saturday, August 4, 2018 at her home following a sudden illness.
She was born December 6, 1932 in Abbeville, South Carolina, the daughter of Carroll and Juanita Rykard Campbell and later her step-father, Charles Fauntleroy.
Following her graduation from high school, she graduated from Baruch College in New York in 1955 with a B.S. in Business. She was married to Edward Gary Williams, Sr. on August 3, 1957 in St. Albans, Queens, New York.
Following a transfer to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, she worked as an accountant in the financial department for over 16 years until a health issue arose. While in San Angelo, she was an active member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. She was involved in the LeCoterie Society, where she was named the Club Woman of the Year in 2001; in addition to being a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Soriety, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, and the Wesley Trinity Daily Bread Program. As a hobby, she loved to go bowling.
She is survived by a son, Edward Gary Williams II, of Dallas; daughter, Joya D. Bell and husband, Michael of Hilda; two granddaughters, Shupier Roneiska Jones Williams of Atlanta, Ga. and Kayla Williams of Minneapolis, Mn.; two great-granddaughters, Lazaria and Layoni Leggett; two nieces, Lisa Kay DeShazer and Lana Jean Jackson; and a nephew, Nero Wise all of Atlanta, Ga. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, her dog Weezy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15th, at Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 16th, with burial following at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Memorials are requested to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home of San Angelo.
