Irma Ethel Dodson was called home to our Lord on Tuesday morning, July 17, 2018.
She was born November 18, 1929 to Orley and Madge Dodson in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She was a long time employee of the Texas Department of Transportation, retiring in 1992 after 33 years of service as an accounting clerk.
She was a long time member of Harris Ave. Baptist Church and served in the nursery for many years. In later years, Irma loved being part of the Baptist Memorial Retirement community playing cards and dominos with her friends on a regular basis. She also enjoyed making jewelry and sharing that craft with family and friends.
She is survived by a sister, Doris Blackstock and her husband of Los Alamos, New Mexico, her sister-in-law Myrle West Dodson, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Elizabeth Rosser and her husband George, a brother, Everett Dodson and his wife Judy.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Johnson’s Funeral Home with funeral services to be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Harris Ave. Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Baptist Memorial Nursing Home and Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center for their kindness and love shown to Irma in her last years.
