Wanda Lee Gilmore, 76, of San Angelo, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in San Angelo.
Wanda was born May 9, 1942 in Newton, N.C. to Clarence Bowman and Clinzy Smart Bowman.
Wanda married the love of her life, James Curtis Gilmore on August 27, 1957. They moved to San Angelo where they made their home and shared 60 wonderful years of marriage together and raised two children, Jennifer and Jeff.
Wanda started her career in San Angelo and quickly worked her way to become the Distribution Manager at R.G. Barry. She was a strong, formidable business woman, and while running the distribution center she achieved Business Woman of the Year. Wanda influenced many people’s lives during her career.
Early in their marriage, she and her husband loved racing dirt bikes and also raced boats. Wanda was a loving sister, wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to her family, her career, and helping others. Her legacy of strength, perseverance, and love for her family will be carried in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss her!
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Timmy and Dale Bowman.
Wanda is survived by her loving husband, Jimmy Gilmore, of San Angelo, her daughter, Jennifer Juarez and her husband Chris of San Angelo, her son, Jeff Gilmore and his wife Christie of North Hollywood, CA, her grandchildren, Taylor Manship and her husband Seth, Cameron Juarez and his fiancée Care’n Herrera, Joshua Gilmore and Sydney Gilmore, her great grandchild, Parker Manship and one more “on the way!” She is also survived by one brother and three sisters all of North Carolina and her sisters-in-law Mildred Bowman, Sandra Machann, and Geneva Weedon and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, July 1st at Harper Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be 10a.m., Monday, July 2nd at Harris Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Bush officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers for the service will be Steve Machann, Russell Machann, Seth Manship, Cameron Juarez, James Jones, and Jerry Knowles.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation and give a special thanks to Sylena Prince, Joyce Hiney, Wanda Yoes, Rhonda Ottmers, Meg Davis, Sandra Jones and Sabrina Geist for all the loving care given to Wanda during her illness.
