Sylvia Yolanda Lindenschmidt, 78, died peacefully Saturday, June 9, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Sylvia was born and raised in Laredo, Texas where she graduated from Martin High School and later attended Laredo Jr College. While growing up in Laredo she was selected Miss Laredo for 1963-1964. Sylvia moved to San Antonio in 1965 where she met Larry Lee Lindenschmidt, a pilot in the Air Force, on an unexpected night out with girlfriends. After a short courtship, Sylvia and Larry married at a small ceremony there in San Antonio. Daughter, Melissa, was born in 1967 and son, Jason, followed in 1972. After multiple short Air Force assignments around the country, and Larry finishing dental school, they settled down in Del Rio, Texas in 1974.
From the beginning Sylvia took an active role in helping Larry manage and grow his new dental practice. After getting the dental practice on solid ground, Sylvia and Larry ventured out and opened a women’s shoe store, “Lindy’s Shoes”, in downtown Del Rio – and later at the local mall - to great success.
Sylvia volunteered regularly at Sacred Heart Academy and Church, Meals for the Elderly and the local Rotary Club.
Sylvia’s love and devotion to her family was paramount in her life. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling the world, cheering on the Spurs, gardening, sewing and watching Del Rio sunsets from their house on the hill.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Lee Lindenschmidt; her mother, Olivia Sanchez; her father Eduardo Sanchez, and her brothers, Bobby and Eddie Sanchez.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Melissa Villescas (Hector), her son, Jason Lindenschmidt (Katie Moran) and 3 grandchildren – Ryan Villescas (24), Robert Villescas (22) and Ray Olivia Lindenschmidt (3).
