On May 18, 2018, Madelle (Madie) Doris Huckaby went to be with the Lord. She was 92 years old.
She was born to Louis and Talitha Eckerman on December 10, 1925 in Eola, Texas. She was married to her husband, Asa Sanford Huckaby for 32 years.
Madie never knew a stranger and was an example of genuine friendliness wherever she went. She was an accomplished cook, homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother and an extraordinary seamstress. Before her retirement, she was a long-time employee of The Cutting Corner and Fabric Mart where she made many friends. She was an active member of The Heights Church until recently when her health began to decline. She participated in delivering meals for Meals for the Elderly from 1989 until the end of 2017.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Asa Sanford Huckaby, by her parents Louis and Talitha Eckerman, by her brothers Chester, Melvin, and Weldon (Pete) Eckerman, and by her daughter, Tracy Lloyd.
She is survived by her son, Louis Huckaby and wife Carolyn, her daughter Pamela Guess and husband Charles, her niece, Sharon Eisenbach and husband Eddie. She is also survived by grandchildren, Gina Jurek, Julie Pucci and husband Tim, Leah Coville and husband Patrick, David Bradshaw and wife Jennifer, Scott Bradshaw and wife Sherry, and her sister Susie, Nathan Guess, Nolan Guess and wife Bonnie, and Hollie Sawyer and husband Joey. She has 24 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, a host of friends, and family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26th at 2 p.m. at Harper Funeral Home. There will be a visitation on Friday, May 25th from 6 - 8 p.m.
