Nadine Elizabeth Glass Fischer passed away Wednesday, March 14.
Born March 21, 1930, she was the third daughter of Edward and Rose Pohler Glass of Miles. She attended Sweet Home Grade School and graduated from Miles High School in 1947. She married Roy Fischer Feb. 9, 1948 in Rowena. They farmed at Mereta. She was a homemaker and then was employed at Jacksons Fashions for many years. She also helped Roy with his custom combining business after retirement from Jacksons.
She and Roy were members of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. She and neighbors began teaching religious education classes at Mereta. She and Roy were one of the founders of Holy Family Mission in Mereta.
She was a member of the Mereta Altar Society and St. Ambrose Catholic Daughters. She was a skilled seamstress and volunteered at the Santa Fe Depot Senior Citizen Center in San Angelo after retirement.
She was known by her family for setting high standards and promptness as well as having a wonderful sense of humor and high work ethics.
Survivors are her four children, Nelda (Nell) Edmiston of Eldorado, Darrell Fischer of San Angelo, Rodney and Deborah Fischer of Harker Heights, Jeff Fischer of Mereta; grandchildren, Rachel Edmiston of Seattle, Washington; Will and Raney Edmiston of Abilene; Renee and Larry Anderley of Navarre, Florida; Matt Fischer of San Angelo and Jackie and Austin Codner of Dennison and Nic Fischer of Houston. Also, great-grandchildren Wyatt, Carter, and Davis Edmiston; Brynn, James, and Nora Anderley, and Carson and Rebecca Codner, sister Alice Book and husband Richard of Miles, longtime friends Joan Gesch and Ethel Weishuhn, sisters-in-law and husbands Mary Frances and Garlan Williams of Snyder, Lucille and Dennis Rohmfeld of Ballinger; Willa Mae and W.C. Briley of San Angelo, and brother-in-law Buddy Fischer of Grape Creek, sisters-in-law Clare Fischer of Rowena and Annetta Glass of Miles and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded by her parents, her husband, son-in-law Jerry Edmiston, daughter-in-law Christy Fischer, sister and brother-in-law Laura and Elmer Halfmann, brother Lester Glass, in-laws Agnes and Chester Parker, Mickey and Bob Harris, Laurene and Arthur Goetz, Alton Fischer, and Venita and Roy Bagwell.
Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Ambrose and Funeral is at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose in Wall.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Schleicher County Nursing Home for their kind and wonderful care for Nadine for the past 18 months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Alzheimers Association of America or the American Cancer Society.
