Jennifer Van Pelt went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. after her seven-year long war with cancer. Jennifer’s devotion to her family and her firm belief in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, supported and strengthened her through her trials and struggles and ultimately gave her peace.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Joy Baptist Church in Joy, Texas with Pastor Keith Laude officiating. Burial will be in Joy Cemetery in Joy under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta.
Born Jennifer Ann Baucom on August 24, 1966 in San Angelo, the youngest of six children to James Marvin “Marvin” Baucom and Isabel Clifton “Cliff” Baucom. She graduated in 1984 from San Angelo Central High School.
On December 22, 1990, she married Joel Paul Van Pelt and together had a son Austin Newell Van Pelt who will be attending Texas A&M in the Honors program in the fall.
Jennifer was a devoted wife, mother and sister and was a faithful member of Joy Baptist Church where she served in many capacities. Jennifer was employed by Midway ISD at different times as a substitute teacher, secretary and later bookkeeper.
Jennifer’s hobbies included watching her son, Austin, play basketball where she was a vocal supporter and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband Joel (54) and precious son Austin (18) of Joy. Siblings: Jacklyn “Jackie” Rogers (71), Glen Rose; Mary Catherine “Kathy” Humble (68), Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; Virginia “Fae" Day (66), Grand Prairie; James Marvin “Jim” Baucom (62), San Angelo; Karen “Elaine” McAden (55) of San Angelo; and sister/niece Renee White (49), San Angelo, along with many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved very much.
Memorials may be made to the Joy Baptist Church at 8786 Old Joy Shannon Road, Henrietta, Texas 76365. '
