Robert L. “Bobby” Johnson, 84, of San Angelo went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, March 19, 2017 in San Angelo. Bobby was born June 26, 1932 in San Angelo, Texas to Albert Louis and Helen Florence Craddock Johnson. He grew up in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo High School. Bobby went to work for Western Union as a delivery person at a young age, making thousands of deliveries via bicycle for 19 ½ years. Because he was very clever with math and numbers, he changed professions when he was asked to work for Maverick Oil as a bookkeeper. He worked there for many years until it became Sherwood Oil Company, and remained with them until their closing. He then was asked to work for West Texas Gas and worked there until his retirement. Bobby married Margaret“Peggy” Zachry on December 27, 1980 and they shared 36 beautiful years together.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother who devoted his life to his family. He was a true example of love, kindness, faithfulness and trust to all who knew him. Bobby was a devout member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and a member of HALO at Holy Angels. He was also affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, having an active troop at one time. In his spare time, Bobby loved fishing, riding motorcycles and dirt bikes, traveling and being musically inclined. He loved playing the drums and the viola. His legacy of love will live on in our hearts forever and he will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret “Peggy” Johnson, of San Angelo; his Daughter, Debbie Kelley and her husband Larry, of San Angelo; his Grandchildren, Kevin Kelley and his fiancée, Sierra Horn, and Stacy Kelley and his wife, Becca, all of San Angelo; his Great Grandchildren, Autumn, Patrick, Hayden, John and Paisley; his Brother, Jerry Johnson and his wife Kathy, of San Angelo; and his Sister, Kathy Fouche. The Rosary will be 6:00 P.M., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 24, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Greenwell as celebrant. The Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M., Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater, Texas. Pallbearers for the service will be Kevin Kelley, Stacy Kelley, Larry Kelley, Travis McDermott and Daniel Huber.
