Violet Grace Green Maxwell, known lovingly as 'Granny' by her grandchildren and as ‘Vi’ by her friends, left her earthly home to be with Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 4, 2017.
Born on April 29, 1931 in Beaumont, Texas, Violet loved children and taught at a pre-school for many years. She then worked as a dental assistant, and her last position before retirement was a clerk for a savings and loan. Violet grew up in the First Baptist Church of Beaumont where she regularly volunteered. She was well known for her knowledge of and devotion to scripture. All who had the chance to tour her yard and garden know of Violet’s lifelong passion for gardening and flowers. Violet had an eye for capturing the beauty in nature and was a gifted artist.
Violet moved to San Angelo, Texas in 1999 to be closer to family, where she joined the First Baptist Church of San Angelo. She is survived by her daughter Ginger Heare and husband Bruce; her grandchildren Daniel Heare and wife Hannah; Lauren Morris and husband Hunter; Brad Heare and wife Jean, and her great-grandchild Kyla Jean Heare.
A very special thank you to the wonderful staff of Division Five at Baptist Memorial for their love and care.
The family will receive guests at Harper’s Funeral Home on Monday, March 6 from 5:30 until 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 7 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in San Angelo. Violet will then be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
