Asteria J. Latham, 58 passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at her residence in San Angelo, Texas. She was born to Jesus Jorge and Crescencia Bejagan Jorge in Manlapay Dalaguete Cebu, Philippines on October 21, 1958. Asteria grew up in the Philippines, and at the age of eighteen she moved to Hong Kong and worked for two years. She then moved to Canada and was a chef for the Toronto Blue Jays owner. She became a citizen of the United States and had citizenship in the Philippines as well.
She later made her home in San Angelo and worked for Levi Strauss Company until they closed the plant. Asteria then worked for Skinny’s Convenience Stores as a Manager for many years. She was a very meticulous and conscientious manager. The company appreciated her exceptional work ethic.
Asteria was an excellent cook; she also loved karaoke, singing, and dancing. She loved to celebrate life. She was very organized in all things and she had a beautiful smile that could light up the room. She was a loving daughter, sister, and wife and we will dearly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Andy Escamilla, her mother, and her brother Maximo Jorge. She was survived by her husband David Latham, of San Angelo, step-children, Nathan Latham and wife Chantelle of Midland, TX, Kristi Plunk, and husband Marshall, of Fort Worth, TX., Dayna Latham of Lindenhurst, N.Y., her father Jesus Jorge, brothers, Mauro Jorge, Segundino Jorge, Leonilo Jorge, sisters Carmencita Jorge Sagucio, and Alejandra Jorge Carson, all of Manlapay Dalaguete Cebu City, Philippines.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 2:00 pm in the Harper Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Jim Benson officiating.
